BIRC's approach to helping individuals begins with a comprehensive
assessment to determine the nature and extent of each individual's brain injury
and capacities. This includes neuro-psychological, psychosocial,
functional independence, educational and vocational testing.
All participant programs are designed and delivered by an interdisciplinary
team of licensed, certified professionals, which include: psychologists, occupational
therapists, social workers, rehabilitation and vocational counsellors and other
specialists as required.
The team is a group of dedicated and caring individuals. The team also includes well-trained volunteers and students with a wide range of experiential and educational backgrounds who assist the professional staff.
As a consequence, service delivery is both effective and cost-efficient.
A wide variety of state-of-the-art computer learning programs, physical
rehabilitation tools, individual and group exercises and therapeutic models are
employed, giving each individual the best opportunity for improvement.
Last, but not least, the program participant’s supportive network of family and community relationships are an integral part of the entire interdisciplinary team.
